Tracy Faulkner was recently appointed vice president of Global External Affairs for Royal Dutch Shell’s Global Downstream business. In this role, she oversees internal and external communications and reputation management in over 70 countries for the following global business lines: manufacturing, chemicals, retail, lubricants, business-to-business, commercial fuels, aviation, marine, supply & distribution, trading & shipping, alternative energies including biofuels and C02/climate change. Faulkner joined Shell Oil Company in June 2007, as vice president of Communications, where she oversaw corporate and business line communications for Shell’s upstream, downstream, exploration and production projects and technology in North and South America. She directed internal and external communications strategies, corporate advertising, reputation management, media relations, research, and issue/crisis management.

Previously, Faulkner served as vice president of Corporate Communications for the Federal Government’s Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), which was then the largest public power provider in the United States. Prior to TVA, she held several positions of increasing responsibility with CNH Global, a FIAT company. She has worked globally, including an international assignment based in Sydney, Australia, with responsibility for e-commerce and marketing communications strategies across the Asia Pacific region. She began her career with General Motors Corporation in 1989 and was one of two professionals selected to start up an entire public relations office for the GMC Truck headquarters, where she led communications strategies that helped the organization achieve record-level truck sales. Faulkner received a bachelor’s degree in Communications Management from Clark-Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia. She completed the Center for Creative Leadership - Leadership Development Program and the Harvard Business School Executive Education program. She is a Trustee of the National Urban League Board and Institute of Public Relations. She is also a member of several professional and civic organizations.
